History of Rotary 

"Whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world it will be known by the results it achieves."

 
Paul P. Harris founded the Rotary Club of Chicago on February 23, 1905. The Chicago attorney had a vision to develop a place for professionals with diverse backgrounds to exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Since then, our organization has grown to have over 1.2 million members on six different continents. 

OUR COMMITMENT

Rotarians haven’t just witnessed history—we’ve helped shape it. Three traits have defined us from the start:

International reach: Just 16 years after our founding, Rotary had clubs on six continents. Today, we collaborate globally to tackle some of the world’s toughest challenges.

Resilience: During WWII, clubs in Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Japan were forced to disband. Many met informally despite the risks and later rebuilt their clubs and communities.

Commitment to service: Since launching our polio fight in 1979—immunizing 6 million children in the Philippines—Rotary has helped reduce polio-endemic countries from 125 in 1988 to just three in 2012.

 

WHO WE ARE

The Princeton Corridor Rotary Club, chartered in 1986 by Nick Carnevale, has a long history of supporting our community. We provide scholarships to graduates of West Windsor’s North and South High Schools and donate generously to local organizations.

 

Our 35+ members include entrepreneurs, professionals, and small business owners. We partner with groups such as Homefront, Boys & Girls Club, Kesner DuFresne Memorial Scholarship, local Eagle Scouts, and West Windsor Little League. Annual contributions typically exceed $25,000, and our members actively volunteer their time for projects, events, and fundraisers.
