On March 26 we did a project to support The Petey Greene Program. Their CEO, Jeff Abramowitz was in attendance. This organization supports the academic goals of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people through high-quality volunteer tutoring programs, while educating volunteers on the injustice manifest in our carceral system and encouraging them to engage in justice-oriented activism.
The project was in two parts. The first was to write notes to individuals currently incarcerated to help keep them connected. The second part was to help finish an art project banner which will be displayed as part of Petey Greene's activities. It contains positive messages, started by an artist, but finished by volunteers.
We also want to welcome our two newest members, Robert "Nick" Lopez and Umesh Patil. Both joined us over the last two months and we want to welcome them.
Umesh is a returning Rotarian from upstate New York and Nick is a brand new Rotarian who works locally with Keller Williams Realty. Great to have both of you aboard!
