The Rotary Club of the Princeton Corridor

Around the Club - July 2024
Our club continued to support the United Way of Greater Mercer County's event Strike Out Hunger. Thanks to members and club friends who helped us reach the overall goal of packing 50,000 meals. Well done!
At our meeting on June 7 we had a visiting Rotarian from India join us for lunch. Neeraja Godavarthi, member of the Rotary club of Banjarahills in Hyderabad, India was visiting in the area and attended our meeting.
Neeraja spoke about her club's local activities, particularly involving a hospice program her club sponsors. We also exchanged club banners, which is a Rotary tradition. Thanks to Neeraja for visiting and we hope to see you again on your next visit to Princeton.
Our speaker on June 7 was Laura Van Booven. She is the Volunteer Manager for Habitat for Humanity of South Central New Jersey. Laura was on-site at the project for which our club was involved and we asked her to give the club an overview of Habitat's activities.
In addition to building new buildings, in partnership with volunteers and the new owners, they also select project for repair.
Our club has done several projects with Habitat and will continue to support them and their good work, in the future.
The Princeton Corridor Rotary Club’s guest speaker on Friday June 14th was Doug Palmer, Chairman of The Trenton Literacy Movement, Inc (TTLM). TTLM is a non-profit organization dedicated to enabling Trenton school children to read at grade level by 3rd grade. Member Eric Rosenblum was proud to present a check to Doug Palmer in support of TTLM.
Our speaker on June 21st was Princeton Corridor Rotary’s very own club member Ahmed Azmy. Ahmed discussed his more than 50 year career in architecture. Ahmed also talked about his 20 years as a board member of the Thomas Edison State University (TESU) Foundation. Ahmed recently was presented with a TESU Impact award for his impact on the community and his dedication to the University. Congratulations Ahmed!
On Friday June 28th the Princeton Corridor Rotary Club supported The Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) by packaging plastic knives and forks together with napkins as well as separately packaging two over-the-counter pain-relief pills in accordance with TASK guidelines.  The packaged utensils are distributed in to-go meal bags distributed by TASK. The pills are inventoried by TASK for distribution as needed for people showing up at the soup kitchen.  Our newest member Nick Lopez organized and supervised the project.
